I was going to write about how my workplace is facing it's 3rd scandal in one year (reported at the national level no less), but I'd like to keep earning a paycheck, so I'd better shut up. I didn't have anything as exciting to blog about (how can you beat a national scandal in your own workplace? Can you see how I"m DYING to talk about this?!?), so I'm just going to come out with a dirty little secret. A shameful secret.
Okay, here goes. *Deep breath* So tonight I watched Twilight.
Yes, you may laugh at me. Why not? I made fun of all my friends who watched the movie. In fact, I pleaded with them not to watch it and be "infected" by the twihard mania. And then when they watched it anyways, I heaped hot coals of scorn on their heads.
So why did I watch it?
First, because I saw this hilarious parody video on youtube called "Buffy v.s. Edward". It had clips from the movie and various episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and was hilarious. It kind of peaked my curiosity because the actor who plays Edward made all these tortured, constipated faces, and I wanted to see a whole movie of it.
Final verdict after watching? It...wasn't that bad. Cheesy of course, but not eye-rollingly awful. I managed to watch the whole thing.
On a side note, it was nice to see some Native American actors in roles that weren't:
a) stereotypes straight out of dances with wolves
b) alcoholics and drug addicts or
c) ignorant losers with bad grammar
I hear the second movie features that Native American kid for most of it. I...might watch it. Purely out of curiosity and not because I like the story or anything....yes. I can honestly say I do not get the whole screaming obsession with Robert Pattinson (sp? is it Patterson? I just don't care enough to google it). It must be the Twihards confusing the book character with the actor cuz he ain't that hot. Not to me anyways.
I do think the whole "sparkling in the sun like diamonds" bit was a little much. Not what I call manly or sexy. It was a little too Ziggy Stardust without the awesomeness that is David Bowie (i.e. too much froo froo dressing and make up, not enough raw sex).
Anyways, yes. I have watched the movie. NO DESIRE WHATSOEVER TO READ THE BOOKS THOUGH. Twihards are a scary lot and I have no desire to join the dark side.
